Send us something

Share a correction, a local story, or a source we should know about.

Know a specific date, place, name or transcription for something on the site? Help fill a gap instead.

Adding to the hubs? Submit a veteran, submit a church, or correct or remove something. These are reviewed by a person, and nothing is published automatically.

What is collected, and who can read it

What we collect: what you type in the boxes below, and the path of the page you came from (for example /stories/battletown/). The path only — not the full web address, so a search you ran or a tracking tag on a link you followed is not recorded. With JavaScript turned off, the page cannot fill that in, and no path is sent at all.

What we do not collect: no account, no file upload, no analytics profile, and no tracking of you by this project. Your name and email are optional; we use an email you give us to ask a follow-up question about what you sent.

Where it goes: to a private queue held by Netlify, the company that hosts this site. Mike Oak, who runs this project, reads it, along with anyone he has given access to that hosting account. Netlify keeps its own records of the request, as any web host does.

What happens next: a person reads it. Nothing you send is published, and nothing is added to the site’s record of events, without a person deciding to do that. If it leads to something on the site, it goes through the same source checking as everything else.

What we are not promising: we have not set a schedule for how long submissions are kept or when they are deleted, so please do not treat this form as private correspondence, and do not send anything sensitive through it.

Suggestions help guide our research. We check sources before publishing.

What happened, or what you remember -- even if you are not sure of the date.

A decade is as useful as a date. "Somewhere near Millwood" is as useful as an address.

A web page that mentions it. Links only -- we cannot accept file uploads.

A person reviews every submission, and nothing is published automatically. A living veteran appears on the site only if they, or their family with their agreement, ask for it and consent.

As it appears in the record, with any other spelling you know.

Please do not give a service number or any other identifying number.

Born, lived or buried in Clarke County, or named on a Clarke roll or memorial. Where and when, as far as you know.

A book, a document, a headstone, a newspaper notice, or “my family remembers”. Links and descriptions only; we cannot take files.

Is the veteran living or deceased?

As it appears in the record, with any other names you know.

The community, road or nearest town. An exact address is not needed.

When it was founded, built, renamed or closed, as far as you know.

A book, a deed, a photograph, a church program, a cemetery, or “my family remembers”. Links and descriptions only; we cannot take files.

What do you need?

Its address on ourclarke.com, such as /veterans/. A link from a page fills this in.

How you know: a record, a book, a family document. For a removal you do not need to give a reason.

Only so we can ask a follow-up question. Leave it blank if you prefer.

Text and links only. We cannot accept file or photograph uploads here, and there is no account to create.
