More churches are coming
These are the first congregations with pages. More are added as saved records are read, one at a time, and each is shown with the record that names it. A church not listed here is not left out on purpose: it has simply not been documented yet.
How to read these pages
Every statement on a page here is marked with separate labels, because separate questions are being asked.
- RECORD
- What the record says: how well the cited source supports the statement.
- IDENTITY
- Same congregation or building as the one on this page?
- CONTINUITY
- Same body or building under another name or at another site?
A history that says a church was founded in a given year can be Confirmed as to what the history says (RECORD) and still Unconfirmed as to whether it means the church on this page (IDENTITY).
A statement (RECORD) reads one of three words.
- Confirmed
- A record shows it.
- Likely
- Good but indirect evidence: the record points that way, but one step is still an inference.
- Family account
- What the family says or remembers.
The IDENTITY question reads Confirmed or Likely in the same way, and has one more answer.
- Unconfirmed
- Nobody has yet shown that this is the same congregation or building. The page says why, in plain words, beside the label.
A page also says how deep its evidence runs.
- Documented
- At least two independent sources, each read from its page image, with the record itself shown.
- Recorded
- At least one saved source, read from its page image. A short page that says only what the record says.
- Transcribed
- Newspaper items read from a saved text transcription. The page images have not yet been checked against it. A short page that says only what the items say.
