The Confederate monument, 1900: the names

The names on the Confederate monument on the Court House Square, unveiled on July 21, 1900, as Thomas D. Gold transcribed them in his History of Clarke County, Virginia (1914), printed pages 314 to 316. Gold introduces the list: "The monument has upon it the following inscription and also the names of those who lost their lives during the war."

This is Gold's transcription, not a reading of the stone itself; the inscription's own words are printed as he gives them.

Transcription 107 names

Source: Gold's pages 313 to 316, in the copy hosted on this site (PDF pages 345 to 348)
