About these entries
Each entry is one record in one of four catalogs the association publishes: historical objects, archival records, photographs and library holdings. What you see is the catalog card, not the item.
Dates are the association’s own strings, printed as written — a range, a circa or a partial date stays exactly as cataloged, so it reads as text and not as a year we have decided on.
The object catalog lists each thing by what it is — “Photograph, Black-and-White”, “Medal, Commemorative” — rather than by what it depicts. A search for a place or a person will therefore not reach those entries through the fields shown here, which is a limit of these catalog fields and not a statement about what the association holds.
Where an entry suggests a connection to a story on this site, that is a suggestion drawn from words in the catalog title. It has not been checked against the item, and it is not offered as evidence for anything.
